Noticing Exterior Damage?

The outside of your home is the first layer of protection from the elements. The roof and siding are the barriers between your home’s interior and the snow, wind, hail, sun, and much more than the Indiana weather throws at it. Several issues may arise when an exterior part of your home is damaged.

Moisture can seep into your home, pests can make your gutters their home, heavy snowfall can cause your roof to sink, wind can knock shingles off your roof, a tree’s limb can fall on your roof, the wind can throw a rock through your window, and the list of possibilities goes on. The good news is that if you’re a homeowner, then you likely have homeowner’s insurance.

 Your Insurance Policy

Your homeowner’s insurance policy will give you the ability to file an insurance claim or not when you notice some damage, whether it’s on your roof, your siding, your windows, or any other exterior component or structure of your home. Policies typically cover accidental or sudden problems caused by certain events. If your policy covers the damage you’ve noticed, then you can start the claim process with an inspection from our team at SPG Roofing & Exteriors.

The Inspection Process

The inspection process begins with your call to us. Once you’ve contacted us, we’ll schedule the inspection. Our inspections are contactless. We use our drone technology to make a full assessment of all damage regarding your roof, including gutters, house siding, solar panels, and anything else your home is equipped with.

In conjunction with the insurance inspector, our inspector evaluated the damage a few times. We’ll ensure all paperwork is done properly and swiftly while staying in communication with you and the insurance company at every step. After the evaluations, the claim is approved, and our work on the damage begins.

Your Trusted Roofing Contractor for Insurance Claims

As a roofing contractor, SPG Roofing & Exteriors only influences the estimated cost of damage and the damage assessment. However, that doesn’t mean we won’t do everything possible with your best interest in mind. Our inspectors and staff are client advocates, and we will position ourselves carefully and tactfully to ensure we do everything we can for you when working opposite the insurance company.

As homeowners ourselves, we know what the insurance claim process can be like. It can be stressful and daunting, which is why we work with you to ease the tensions as much as possible. We strive to curate a trusting relationship with our clients so that when damage occurs, and you need to file an insurance claim for your roof, gutters, windows, or siding repairs, you’ll trust us to aid in the process.

Tips for Filing a Roof Insurance Claim

You will likely have many concerns and questions when damage occurs to your home’s exteriors, especially when it comes to your insurance and filing a claim. The following are a few tips we can offer you to help ease the overwhelming process just a bit.

  • Call Our Team First

The insurance process can be confusing, and the insurance company typically has its interest in mind and not yours. Other roofing companies and insurance companies can try and take advantage of you because they know you need the repair done. It’s best to go into the process with this in mind. SPG Roofing & Exteriors hopes that you’ll consider stepping into the process with us so you can have someone on your side.
  • Understand Your Policy

Review your insurance policy. Each policy is different, so it’s a good idea to refresh your memory when you’re initiating filing an insurance claim. You’ll want to understand your policy and know exactly what is covered to avoid getting blindsided when you discover the damage isn’t covered.
  • Consider Maintenance Long-Term

Whether the damage is covered is dependent on the age of the home’s structure, as well as your maintenance of it. For example, if you don’t get routine maintenance on your roof or gutters, the insurance company may deny your claim. Not only is proper maintenance important to keep everything in working shape, which may help you avoid any future damage, but it could be that final piece that gets the insurance company to approve the claim. SPG Roofing & Exteriors can help you keep your home in top shape with our contactless inspections, which allow you to stay on top of any problems that may occur.
  • Don’t Agree Until You’re Ready

Don’t sign any contracts before getting your insurance claim approved. At SPG Roofing & Exteriors, we’ll walk you through the process and give an honest assessment of the damage. However, we won’t make you feel like you need to sign any contract with us unless you choose to do so. We want you to trust us and choose us once your claim has been approved to get the job done, but we won’t push you into signing anything beforehand.
  • Secure An Advocate

Contact a contractor before calling your insurance company. While you may think to do the opposite, the truth is that when you call SPG Roofing & Exteriors first, we can be your advocate throughout the rest of the process. While we’ll have no say in whether your claim is approved or not, we can still try our best.
