How much backup power does one Powerwall provide?

A single Powerwall (13.5 kWh) powers an average home through the night or provides several hours of backup power during outages. Most homes need 1-2 units. We assess your usage during the consultation and recommend the right configuration for your needs and budget.

Can I add Powerwall to an existing solar system?

Absolutely. Powerwall integrates with existing solar systems to provide the battery storage benefits. Your solar system’s inverter may need upgrading to Tesla’s integrated inverter, which we assess during consultation. Adding Powerwall to existing solar is common and recommended.

How does Powerwall work during a power outage?

Powerwall monitors grid status continuously. When an outage is detected, it instantly switches your home to battery power, typically unnoticed by you. Essential circuits stay powered. If you have solar, the system immediately prioritizes charging during the day to maintain battery reserves.

What’s the warranty on Tesla Powerwall?

Powerwall carries a 10-year warranty covering degradation. Tesla guarantees minimum 70% capacity retention after 10 years. As certified installers, we handle all warranty claims directly with Tesla, ensuring prompt resolution.

Can I combine multiple Powerwalls?

Yes. Multiple Powerwalls can be stacked to increase storage capacity and backup runtime. A typical 2-unit system provides enough storage for most homes to run exclusively on solar and battery storage.

Does Powerwall require maintenance?

No maintenance required. Powerwall is fully sealed and weather-resistant. It automatically manages charging cycles and health monitoring. The Tesla app displays system health metrics, so you always know everything is operating normally.

Tesla Powerwall: Energy Storage Reimagined

Tesla Powerwall is a 13.5 kWh home battery that stores energy from solar panels, the grid, or during off-peak hours. When the sun sets, your Powerwall supplies stored energy to power your home. During grid outages, it automatically keeps essential circuits powered. Smart software learns your usage patterns and optimizes charging and discharging to maximize savings and resilience.

Grid Independence

24/7 Backup Power & Storm Resilience

Indiana experiences significant weather events and occasional grid disruptions. Powerwall automatically detects outages and seamlessly switches to battery power, keeping your home operational. You’ll maintain power to essential circuits including refrigeration, heating/cooling, lighting, and communication devices. Multiple Powerwalls can be stacked to extend backup capacity for whole-home coverage.

Seamless System Integration

The Perfect Solar Complement

Powerwall is specifically designed to work with solar systems. During the day, solar charges Powerwall while powering your home. Excess solar sends energy to the battery or grid (earning net metering credits). At night, the battery powers your home. During high-rate periods, you can draw from the battery instead of expensive grid power. This optimization can reduce your electricity costs by 50-70% compared to solar alone.

Connie D.

“SPG replaced our roof and gutters. We worked with Hunter and Cameron. They were extremely easy to work with – friendly, professional, and patient. Hunter brought back the samples when we started to second guess ourselves. Their price was the best out of our three estimates. Hunter returned afterwards to make sure the area was properly cleaned and to see if we were happy. We highly recommend SPG Roofing.”
