Roofing, siding, gutters, windows, and solar for Franklin homes and businesses. Family-owned and Indiana-based since 2003.
The Johnson County seat located along US-31 south of Indianapolis, Franklin is home to roughly 31,000 residents. A charming historic county seat anchored by Franklin College and a walkable downtown square, offering small-town character with growing suburban development. SPG Roofing & Exteriors serves homeowners, business owners, and property managers across Franklin and the surrounding Johnson County area with a full range of exterior services.
Franklin's southern Johnson County position puts it in the path of severe weather moving up from the southwest. Tornado warnings are more frequent here than in northern suburbs, and straight-line winds regularly exceed 60 mph during spring and summer storms. Our team matches materials and methods to these local conditions, ensuring every project is built to handle what Indiana weather delivers.
SPG Roofing & Exteriors works across all of Franklin and Johnson County. We serve homeowners near downtown Franklin, the Franklin College area, Webb Court, the Needham area, and developments along US-31. Franklin's historic downtown and surrounding neighborhoods include many homes built in the mid-20th century that are now at or past the expected lifespan of their original roofs.
Newer construction south and east of town uses modern materials but is just as exposed to Indiana's severe weather. We inspect both older and newer homes and recommend only what is necessary.
SPG provides full exterior coverage for Franklin residential and commercial properties:

After any significant weather event, a free inspection from SPG can identify damage that may not be visible from the ground. Early detection prevents small problems from becoming expensive repairs. Learn about hail damage and wind damage on our storm damage pages.

On the night of April 27, 2026, a tornado-warned squall line moved through Johnson County, including Franklin with damaging straight-line winds and hail to quarter+ size. The system moved east across Central Indiana around 11 p.m., bringing tree damage, power outages, and roof damage to properties throughout the storm track. Franklin homes and businesses sit in the affected corridor and many have visible or hidden damage from the event.
SPG Roofing & Exteriors began booking free post-storm inspections immediately and continues to inspect Franklin properties for hail bruising, lifted shingles, gutter denting, and siding impact damage tied to the event. See our full April 27 storm response page for what to expect from a free post-storm inspection.
Franklin requires a building permit for most exterior projects that involve structural changes — replacing roof decking, changing window opening sizes, or altering structural framing. Like-for-like replacements (same-size windows, shingle-only re-roofs over sound decking, siding without structural changes) often do not require a permit, but rules vary by scope. SPG confirms permit status with the Franklin building office on every project before work begins.
SPG handles permitting on every Franklin project where one is required. We pull the permit in our name, schedule the city or town inspection at the appropriate stage of work, and coordinate any HOA documentation when applicable. Homeowners do not need to manage paperwork or call the building department — that's part of the project.
For specific permit questions: Department of Planning & Economic Development.
Our crew yard sits south of Indianapolis along I-65 — about 8 minutes from Franklin in normal traffic. Most Franklin inspections are scheduled the same day or the next business day, and emergency tarping for active leaks is dispatched within hours. For storm response after a confirmed event, we add inspection capacity rather than queue homeowners — most April 27, 2026 inspection requests were on-site within 48 hours through the first weekend after the storm.
