What Happened

April 27–28 Storm Impact on Central Indiana

The storm system that moved through Indiana the evening of April 27 produced widespread severe weather from roughly 8 p.m. through 2 a.m. Tuesday. The Storm Prediction Center had placed western Indiana under a Level 3 of 5 risk for severe storms. Tornado-warned cells tracked across Marion, Johnson, Hendricks, Morgan, Hancock, Shelby, Boone, Clinton, Fountain, Montgomery, Tippecanoe, Greene, Monroe, Owen, Brown, Bartholomew, Henry, Rush, and Decatur counties. Hail reports of quarter-size and greater came in across south-central Indiana. Damaging wind gusts ripped shingles from roofs, knocked down trees, and dropped power lines — Duke Energy reported nearly 20,000 customers without power and AES Indiana reported thousands more outages across Indianapolis. The National Weather Service is still surveying damage to determine whether tornadoes touched down. Many homeowners are unaware their property was damaged — hail impacts and lifted shingles are often invisible from the ground.

Hidden Damage

Why You Need a Professional Inspection

Hail and wind damage is often invisible to the untrained eye. Shingle bruising, hairline cracks, and displaced granules weaken your roof's ability to shed water — but they look normal from the driveway. Missing or lifted shingles from high winds may only be visible from the rooftop. Siding impacts, cracked window seals, and bent gutters are easy to overlook. Without professional inspection, hidden damage leads to leaks, mold, and costly repairs months later. Our certified inspectors climb every roof, photograph every impact, and document damage your insurance company needs to see.
