Storm Damage Roof Repair in Indianapolis

Don't climb on the roof after a storm. From the ground and the attic, look for:

• Shingles, ridge caps or pieces of shingle in the yard.
• Dents in gutters, downspouts, window wraps, AC units or a car left outside. If hail dented metal, it may have damaged the roof too.
• Granules piled at the bottom of downspouts.
• Gutters pulled away from the house, or bent flashing and vents.
• Cracked, dented or holed siding, especially on the side that faced the storm.
• Water stains on ceilings, or daylight or wet decking in the attic.

Any of these is a good reason to have the roof inspected, even if nothing is leaking yet.

Hail damage shows up as dark spots where granules are gone, soft bruises in the shingle mat, cracked shingles, and dents in metal vents, flashing, gutters and downspouts. Insurance adjusters usually look for a pattern of hits across each slope, so we document damage slope by slope with photos.

Wind damage ranges from a few missing shingles to whole sections blown off, along with lifted ridge caps, bent flashing and gutters pulled away from the fascia. Fallen limbs can puncture the roof deck. Small wind damage is usually repairable by matching and replacing the affected shingles; wider damage, or shingles that no longer lie flat, can call for a replacement.

1. Stay safe. Keep away from downed lines and don't go on the roof.
2. Limit water damage. Move belongings away from leaks and catch water inside.
3. Take photos of anything you can see from the ground, and note the date of the storm.
4. Get an inspection. Call (317) 707-6637 or request one online. Storm inspections are free.
5. Decide about a claim. If there is enough damage, you file the claim with your insurer. Check your policy, since many set a deadline for reporting storm damage. We provide the documentation and meet the adjuster.

• April 14, 2026, Grant County: hail up to 1.75 inches near Marion.
• April 27–28, 2026: damaging winds, including a 59 mph gust at the Shelbyville airport, and three confirmed tornadoes in Jackson and Morgan counties.
• June 17–18, 2026: tornadoes including an EF-2 near Spencer, and up to 4.10 inches of rain in Marion County.
