How do I access the Roof Design Studio?

The design studio is available online through our website. Simply navigate to the studio, upload a clear photo of your home, and start exploring. No login or account is required unless you want to save your designs.

What kind of photo works best?

Clear, well-lit photos showing your home's main facade work best. Avoid heavily shadowed photos or extreme angles. Daytime photos with natural lighting reveal color appearance most accurately. You can upload multiple photos to see your design from different angles.

How accurate is the virtual visualization?

The visualization is quite accurate, typically within 90-95% of actual appearance. Minor variations occur due to differences in lighting on the actual installation day versus your uploaded photo. Real materials also display subtle texture and light-reflection characteristics that digital visualization approximates but doesn't perfectly replicate. Despite this, the studio gives excellent guidance for design decisions.

Can I save my designs?

Yes. Create an account to save your designs, and you can access them anytime to continue refining or to share with SPG Roofing & Exteriors team members for professional consultation.

Do I have to use the studio before ordering?

No. The studio is a tool to help you explore and decide. You can use it or skip it entirely if you already know what you want. However, most homeowners find it valuable for clarifying their preferences and building confidence in their design choices.

What if my selected design isn't exactly what I want when installed?

We work from your saved studio design specification, using exact materials and colors you selected. If the installed roof doesn't match your design—due to wrong materials being used or color variation outside acceptable manufacturing tolerances—we address it. Our goal is ensuring your installation matches your design exactly.

Interactive Visualization Technology

Virtual Roof Design Tool

Our Roof Design Studio uses advanced photo-based visualization technology to show you how different roofing materials and colors appear on your specific home. Unlike generic color swatches or standard renderings, our tool works with photos of your actual house, accounting for lighting, shadows, architectural details, and surrounding elements. This personalized approach delivers visualization that closely matches real-world appearance.

The design process is intuitive and interactive. Upload a clear photo of your home's front or any facade you're interested in. Select from hundreds of available roofing materials and colors representing products from major manufacturers. The visualization updates in real-time as you make selections, allowing you to compare options instantly without waiting for rendering. Experiment freely—try color combinations you might not have considered, compare architectural-grade shingles to premium options, preview different profiles and finishes.

The tool displays detailed product information for each selection, including material type, manufacturer, color name, approximate costs, and durability features. As you finalize your design preference, you can save your selections and share them with SPG Roofing & Exteriors team members for discussion and refinement. Your saved designs become the specification for your actual project, ensuring your selected design is precisely executed during installation.

Seeing Your Design on Your House

Photo-Based Visualization and Before & After Comparisons

The Roof Design Studio excels because it works with your home's actual photo rather than generic house representations. Natural lighting on your home's photo reveals how colors appear in your specific environment. Morning and afternoon lighting differences, shadow patterns from trees or adjacent structures, and reflections from windows all display realistically in the visualization. This context-aware approach means what you see in the studio closely mirrors what your roof will actually look like once installed.

Before-and-after comparisons are central to the design studio experience. See your home's current roof condition alongside your proposed design, making the impact immediately apparent. Create multiple comparison views showing different material and color options side-by-side. This visual comparison helps you make confident decisions, moving beyond abstract color preferences to concrete visual understanding of how each choice transforms your home's appearance.

The visualization accounts for your home's architectural style, exterior materials, landscaping, and neighborhood context. A color that's striking on a digital swatch might blend beautifully with your home's natural surroundings in actual visualization. Conversely, a subtle color choice might appear bolder when combined with your home's specific features. The design studio reveals these visual relationships, helping you make aesthetic decisions with full confidence rather than uncertainty.

Complete Shingle Customization

Shingle Color Preview and Material Selection

The design studio includes the complete range of shingle colors and profiles available from major manufacturers serving the Indianapolis area. Standard asphalt shingles come in solid colors plus multi-color blends that provide more visual depth. Architectural-grade shingles offer greater dimension and texture, creating more visual interest while enhancing curb appeal. Premium luxury shingles often feature realistic wood shake or slate-tile appearances with multiple color variations that create authentic-looking surfaces.

Each shingle type displays differently depending on viewing angle, lighting conditions, and proximity. The design studio simulates these viewing conditions realistically, showing how shingle blends and profiles appear at typical viewing distances from the street or driveway. You see the visual impact of color blending—how multiple colors in a single shingle or installation pattern create overall appearance—rather than just evaluating a single shingle in isolation.

Beyond shingles, the design studio includes visualization for metal roofing, tile roofing, and specialty materials. If you're considering a roof material that departs from traditional asphalt shingles, the studio shows how that material appears on your home's specific architecture. Metal roofing's sleek appearance, tile roofing's Mediterranean warmth, and specialty materials' unique characteristics all display with realistic visualization, helping you confidently evaluate non-traditional options.

Moving from Studio Design to Installation

From Virtual Design to Professional Installation

The Roof Design Studio is a powerful tool for personal exploration, but the transition from visualization to actual installation is where professional expertise becomes essential. After you've created your ideal design using the studio, we recommend scheduling a design consultation with our team. We review your studio selections, discuss how they align with your home's architectural style and neighborhood context, and provide professional recommendations based on the roofs we have installed since 2018.

Sometimes our professional eye suggests refinements to your studio design that further enhance results. Perhaps a slightly different color variation would better complement your siding, or a different shingle profile would better respect your home's architectural period. These professional insights, combined with your personal preferences developed through studio exploration, result in designs that both look fantastic and respect architectural principles.

Once you've finalized your design—incorporating both your studio selections and any professional recommendations—your design becomes part of your project specification. Our installation team executes your design with precision, using the exact materials and colors you selected. We maintain photo documentation throughout installation, ensuring your vision is realized. Post-installation photos confirm that your actual roof matches your studio visualization and meets your expectations completely.

What Our Customers Say

Derek M.

“First time doing business with SPG. Worked with Jeremy Hilton over several weeks, and he was very attentive – persistent without being obnoxious, always quick to respond. After nailing down the product details and price for a roof and gutter replacement job, everything went smoothly. I spotted several workers taking additional time on smaller details that most miss, so I’m happy to leave a glowing review. Crews looked great and arrived and departed exactly when SPG predicted and cleaned up well.”

Tonya T.

“I recently moved into my Franklin home and have contracted several companies for home improvements. Due to the tornadoes in the area in late March, I had roof damage and needed quick assessment to avoid more interior damage. I called Grady Phillips at SPG as they did the roof replacement on my previous home. By that afternoon, my roof was tarped to prevent more damage. Grady and the team worked with my insurance company to get me coverage for a complete roof replacement. They completed the project within a few weeks. Jordan, the on-site manager, answered all my questions and kept me fully informed. The construction team was respectful and quick. I am very happy with the whole process and my new roof. They have been the best home repair company that I have worked with this year.”

Tonya M.

“We had hail damage to our home and detached garage and SPG were prompt with providing an estimate, very friendly and helpful with our questions, and provided exceptional service. They worked with our insurance company (not an easy task) and were in constant communication with us. Their roofing and siding crews worked very hard and cleaned up after the job was complete. I would strongly recommend you contact SPG for your next job. Dustin and AJ will take great care of you and your home through the entire process!”
